Our Mission

Empowering business to connect directly to their customers with Mobile Marketing technology.

Background

Reaching your target customer is a challenge, especially for small to medium sized companies that can't afford marketing research staffs and expensive advertising budgets. The founders of OakMobi are well aware of this challenge through their own business start up experience. They followed the crowd and did email newsletters and social media to little avail. The explosion of email marketing has resulted in most people simply deleting newsletters. Effective social media marketing requires a lot time, something most small and medium sized companies don't have; and they require your customers to actively look for your products in a sea of products.

Being small business owners, Susan and Claire realized the power of mobile marketing, text messaging, immediately. They recognized how inexpensive mobile marketing is, especially when you know your message is reaching customers that want to know about your service or product. You know they are interested because customers opt-in on your marketing campaigns. In addition to knowing that your message is reaching people who actively signed up for your campaigns, Susan and Claire recognized the business owner is empowered by controlling their own marketing message — the business owner controls when to send a messsage, which might be now or next week.

Ultimately, the potential for empowering the business owner drew Susan and Claire to start OakMobi.

Management

In 2002, after getting lost in the hills surrounding their home in the Oakland Hills, Susan and Claire decided to take on the challenge of developing a global positioning system (GPS) based trail-routing software application called the Original Ultimate Trail Guide and to launch Interactive Recreation Information Systems. Since that time, in addition to capturing over one thousand miles of trails in the San Francisco Bay Area, Susan and Claire have published: www.trailguide411.com, an online interactive trail map; the San Francisco Trail Collection: East Bay Volume I map book; and, Off-the-Beat'n Path screensaver, based on photos taken from the trails of the Bay Area. Claire and Susan's experience in marketing Interactive Recreation Information System products led to their understanding of the potential power of mobile marketing and text messaging.
